A Lovely Year of Finishes

A Lovely Year of Finishes This challenge was too fun to pass up! A lovely year of finishes, getting linked to other better known blogs, the chance to have my work seen, and even the chance to win goodies! And, learning more about blogging and getting fancy. Today I am working on a UFO of my daughter Ainsley. She got the fabric a year ago with a Christmas gift card. The back is gold and purple minky. The front will be pieced from fabrics she chose. My challenge is to make something that pleases both of us. I had a moment of resonance this morning when I found the right sashing fabric from my stash.

    1. Thanks, I have been conflicted because those are NOT my fabric choices. I remind myself that I am only one opinion, and to not stop before the miracle happens. There is usually a period of doubt for me in the piecing process, and then the finished product is smile worthy. I am still tickled with the blog linking. A first for me. Happy Sewing!

  3. I like it so far! It's a very reasonable project for finish in January.

    1. Thanks. Definitely doable, a simple project. I am challenged by the distance of the rest of the project. It is with my daughter in Boise. She is a busy young working mom. I will make her an offer she can't refuse to get the backing here so I can get 'er done.

  4. I like it! The sashing & border blocks make it really interesting. I like purple with gold and chartreuse. Phew. took my 5 tries to spell that color! Keep up the good work.

  5. Thanks. It is fun t rearrange blocks and come up with very different effects. My first idea was to alternate 9 patches and snowballs. That just looked weird. I had to use all of the fabrics Ainsley picked, and I had already cut them up at her house and sewn the 9 patches. Personal challenge. I felt like Helen Keller being asked to design a quilt.
