Sounds Like Fun!

After a challenging session with the free motion feature of my sewing machine, I switched to a fun and easy play project. I have 3 Tammis Keefe place mats that were a wedding gift for my mom, who got married in 1955. My sister gave them to me some years ago when I was thinking about making a linen quilt. That idea has been abandoned. So, I decided to use these little gems for a table runner, ala this link..
Chai approves.
I looked up Tammis Keefe and found out she was a designer in the middle of the last century. Her colors and drawings were whimsical and charming. You can check out lots of her fun designs here.

The dark blue fabric around the place mats is Japanese, little frogs on lily pads, also from my sister.

And now, the reason for the title of this post:  I woke up early this morning, and was thinking about getting up. Mike started talking in his sleep, which he does often. He said, " good idea. Sounds like fun. By God, that sounds like FUN!" I started laughing and woke him up. He couldn't recall what he was talking about, but it still has me chuckling.

  1. so sorry to hear about your machine not cooperating. i really don't think it is your needle, but one other thing to look at is how your thread spool is loaded on the machine. sometimes spools don't want to lay sideways. if it is, make sure the thread is coming off the right way. Or try putting your thread on a cone holder off the side of the machine so the thread comes up off the top.... just a few more thoughts!
love love love the Tammis Keefe designs. The table runner is darling! You are lucky to have such a nice sister to give you fabric! I wish I was sewing with you today. By God, that sounds like fun.

  2. Mike cracks me up! You two should check out the Sleep Talkin' Man blog - http://sleeptalkinman.blogspot.com/ this lady's husband says hilarious things in his sleep and she transcribes or records them. Always good for a laugh.

The table runner is very cute, and I'm glad to see Chai putting her seal of approval on the project. ;)

Been looking around your blog and I love your "Finishes". That sweet bag is just my idea of fabulous colors and your Steelhead Trout is really lovely.
