When I asked my daughter Ainsley what her kids needed for a gift occasion, she replied, "pillowcases." The cutest ideas I've found came from a book loaned from my prolific sister, Pam. The book is, "Fast, Fun, & Easy...Fabric Critter Bags," by Mary Link. I used sparkly Easter egg print, added oval fleece tummies for cuddling, and zippers for the mouths/pillow closure.

Some days, even with the best of starts, take a wrong turn. Getting back on track takes conscious choice. Today is one of those days. This blog is NOT about the wrong turns, it is about the conscious choices that get me on the sunny side. I recently read that the miracles in our life don't feel like that shot of espresso, or the winning lottery ticket. True story. They feel like the end of a hard work out. Today my cat figured out how to climb back down the ladder from the sewing loft. She started climbing up last month. Smart kitty.

I am going to take the plunge this long month. This is a big project! It is a UFO I started in 2008. Paper pieced pickle dish arcs. The pattern was in QNM, Jan 2008. The designer used blacks, browns, and creams. I loved the look and made my arcs the same color ways. My creative idea is to turn these spiky pickle dishes into our beloved desert horny toad, a tiny and gentle lizard that lives in SW Idaho. I will add appliqued head, tail, and limbs, and have the little guys scurrying around a large wall hanging. My goal is to get the top completed this month.
